Sterilization Monitoring
We Follow the Requirements for Utah and some....
It is recommended to spore test weekly in Utah. It is not required as in some other states that the records of these tests are kept for any timeframe at all. We perform weekly testing and keep our records through timestamping and photo documentation indefinitely.
Sterilization Monitoring
1. We use mechanical, chemical, and biological monitors according to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the effectiveness of the sterilization process.
2. We monitor each load with mechanical (e.g., time, temperature, and pressure) and chemical indicators. Neither is kept in the permanent record
3. We place a chemical indicator on the inside of each package. For pouches, we use pouches that have these endogenous to them. For Cassettes, we place exogenous strips inside.
4. We place items/packages correctly and loosely into the sterilizer so as not to impede penetration of the sterilant.
5. Instruments are pulled prior to use if the chemical indicator does not indicate proper processing.
6. We monitor sterilizers at least weekly by using a biological indicator with a matching control (i.e., biological indicator and control from the same lot number).
7. We use a biological indicator for every sterilizer load that contains an implantable device. We Verify results before using the implantable device, whenever possible.

Record Keeping
The below link is used to update results of biological testing and contains the rules of action for each test result scenario, this is only able to be accessed by clinic staff to maintain accuracy. The results, however, are open to the public and can be viewed upon request.
